H-α is a commodity trade intelligence platform that connects market discovery, deal modelling and execution planning. For a proposed trade, H-α compares suppliers, product specifications, cargo sizes, ports and shipping routes. H-α is built and led by Rajiv Uttamchandani, an astronomer and big data scientist who served as Visiting Professor of Physics at Loyola Marymount University (LMU) and Visiting Astronomer at Caltech. His latest co-authored catalog study, VarWISE, uses machine learning to uncover patterns in vast astronomical datasets. He brings the same scientific rigor to trade: finding meaningful signals, tracing conclusions to evidence and testing forecasts against outcomes. Travel and relationships built around the world have also given him a firsthand understanding of how people do business, how goods move and how local conditions shape a deal.
